What Are Common Air Conditioning Problems?

Becht/Givens Service Experts is here with a few of the most usual A/C problems in Louisville.

  • No Cool Air

If you can hear your air conditioner working but there isn’t cool air blowing, you may need to have your refrigerant levels checked. Refrigerant is what helps make sure the air being produced by your air conditioner is actually cool. Call Becht/Givens Service Experts and we’ll come out and examine your refrigerant levels and look into why your AC system is not producing cool air.

  • Fan Won’t Rotate

One reason your condenser fan might not be rotating could be that it merely burned out and you have to replace it. Humidity could cause more condensation so an additional problem to watch for is that the water is not draining right or that the drain is blocked. If you can confirm these matters, you may be able to find the culprit; if not, give Becht/Givens Service Experts a call and we can look into what has stopped your condenser fan from rotating and discuss your options to get your system cooling again.

  • Not Cooling Properly

First, try decreasing the temperature on your thermostat. It sounds silly but sometimes we forget the obvious. If that doesn’t get your air conditioner cooling, take a look at the air filter. If the air filter is dirty, it could cause major cooling problems. Another issue that could cause your insufficient cooling is that your air conditioner is not sized properly, and unfortunately this is a common issue when homes are constructed. Becht/Givens Service Experts will come out and perform an analysis to determine if the size of your unit is causing your issues.

  • System is Short Cycling

If your air conditioner is short cycling, or turning on or off repeatedly, it could mean one of multiple things. One is that your condenser or evaporator is dirty and requires cleaning. Once the unit is cleaned and all blockages removed, you may be good to go. Note that humidity also plays a role so if your home cools to the right temperature, but then the humidity causes your home to heat up quickly, it could result in on-again, off-again air conditioning because it’s having to work harder to keep your home cool.

No matter your trouble, whatever air conditioner trouble you run into, Becht/Givens Service Experts is here for you 24 hours a day so we can get your home comfortable quickly.
